Switchboard upgrades
If your board still has ceramic fuses, has no safety switches, or trips when the heater and kettle run together, it's worth a look. We'll tell you straight whether it needs replacing or just some work.

Signs it's time.
Any one of these is a good reason to have an electrician take a look.
- Ceramic fuses that have to be rewired when they blow
- No safety switches, or only one for the whole house
- Breakers that trip often or feel warm to touch
- Scorch marks, buzzing or a burning smell at the board
- You're renovating, or adding air conditioning or an EV charger
- A black backing panel behind the fuses, which may contain asbestos
Always included.
Whatever the size of the job.
- Safety switches on every circuit
- Every circuit clearly labelled
- Surge protection, if you want it
- The old board removed and disposed of properly
- Every circuit tested before we leave
- A Certificate of Electrical Safety, emailed to you

Written fixed quote
Within one business day, with optional extras listed separately.
Upgrade day
Most boards take a day. We agree when the power will be off, so you're not caught out.
Tested and certified
Every circuit tested and labelled, and your certificate emailed the same week.
A fixed price. Here's what sets it.
Every house is different, so we price the job in front of us. These are the things that move it.
- How many circuits the house has
- Where the board is and how easy it is to work on
- Whether the main switch or mains cable needs work
- Changes your electricity distributor needs at the meter
- Asbestos in the old board's backing panel
You get a fixed, written price before any work starts, with anything optional listed separately. If we find something unexpected once we start, we stop and talk to you before doing anything extra.
All work is done to AS/NZS 3000, the Australian wiring rules.

Questions about switchboard upgrades. Answered.
Can't see yours? Call 0491 570 157, or ask when you book.
Do I need a new board just to add safety switches?
Not always. If there's room and the board is in good condition, safety switches can sometimes be added to it. We'll tell you which way is safer and cheaper for your house.
How long will the power be off?
Usually a few hours in the middle of the day. We agree the time with you, so the fridge and work-from-home days are looked after.
What about asbestos?
Older boards can have a backing panel that contains asbestos. If yours might, we treat it as asbestos and follow the safe-handling rules, and your quote says how we'll do it.
Often booked together.
We do switchboard upgrades in Preston and Reservoir and Northcote and Thornbury, and across the rest of Melbourne's north.
